Margaret Susan Feldt, 86, of Wolf Lake, Minnesota, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Margaret was born on January 23, 1922, in Soudan, Minnesota, to Fred and Saima Oja. She began her public schooling in Soudan before moving with her family to the Wolf Lake, Minnesota, area in 1930. She grew up on her parents’ farm and attended country school nearby. On April 27, 1939, Margaret was united in marriage to Edwin George Feldt at the Evergreen parsonage. This union was blessed with four children; Gerald, David, Lois, and Kevin. The young family returned to the Iron Range where Ed gained employment with a taconite mining company. In 1945, Margaret returned home to the Wolf Lake area to be closer to her family while her husband served his country in World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1949, they purchased a farm near Wolf Lake where they raised a fine herd of Holstein dairy cattle and raised the crops needed to feed their herd.
Margaret devoted her life to making a warm and loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her delicious homemade breads and rolls. Her children were often greeted with a special homemade treat as they came home from school. She was a longtime member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake, where she was active in the Women´s Ministries. For 30 years, she served as secretary of the Wolf Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary. For 16 years, she served as treasurer of the Wolf Lake Cemetery Association. Each year she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden to share with her family and friends. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers for all to see and enjoy. Above all Margaret dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Gerald (Arlene) Feldt of Fargo, North Dakota, David (Kristine) Feldt of Wolf Lake, Lois (Stanley) Myllykangas, also of Wolf Lake, and Kevin (Mona) Feldt of Perham, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Byron Oja of Osage, Minnesota; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin in 1984, and one granddaughter, Joan in January 1970; three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 2, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake with Reverend John Ramsbacher officiating. Organist was Paul Ramsey.
