Andrew Kern
1926 – 2008

     Andrew (Andy) Joseph Kern, 82, died on June 28, 2008, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, Minnesota.
     Andy was born on March 24, 1926, to Suzanne (Brockpahler) and Peter Kern, Sr. in Bluegrass, Minnesota.
     Andy served in the United States Army, Co.F, 21st Infantry from November 14, 1944 to November 11, 1946. He was united in marriage to Theresa Ament on September 26, 1964, in Bluegrass. Andy lived his entire life in the community and was a dairy farmer.
     He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baking, gardening, farming and collecting coins.
     Andy is survived by his wife, Terri; children, Lynette (John) Kinsman of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Mike (Sue) Kern of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Maria (Mark) Fuchs of Elk River, Minnesota, Londa (Lonny) Burgau of Sebeka, Minnesota, and Phil Kern of Frazee, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Mark (Shirley) of Sebeka; sisters, MaryAnn Uselman of Sebeka, and Suzanne (Doug) Fuller of Gillette, Wyoming; and father-in-law, Norbert Ament, Sr. of Wadena.
     Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Suzanne and Peter, Sr.; brothers, Herman, Martin, Peter, and Irvin; sister, Agnes Marie; mother-in-law, Tracey (Braith) Ament.
     The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 2, at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Bluegrass with Father Michael Kellogg as celebrant. Active pallbearers were Dean Kern, Ryan Ament, Eric Maijala, Jason Ament, Kyle Mattson, and Brian Ament. Honorary pallbearers were Stephanie Kaatz, Josh Haverland, Kelsi Kinsman, DesaRae Fuchs, Nicole Fuchs, Erin Fuchs, Jordan Burgau, Tanner Burgau, Kayla Higgins, Joey Higgins, and great-grandchild, Mason Forshen. Interment was at St. Hubert’s Catholic Cemetery in Bluegrass.
